Well that was cool...
Went to a jazz show yesterday at a rich mans house in Berkeley. He has this annual event when he invites the whole neighborhood and hires the best Jazz musicians around.
We showed but with the Rumberos and a set of drums, soon, we were playing inbetween the jazz sets.
Near the end of the party, Maestro Babatunde Lea and I played rumba with a few other cats. Tunde and I talked about getting together and working on some of the Bembes Sandy showed me.
Tunde, as he is called, is a real heavy in the jazz world. check him out on the web... a serious player.
Off to see Maraca at Yerba Buena Gardens today at 1. Mike Spiros band Karabali will be opening for them, should be a great show!!
